Michael Smiy is a Creative Director/Director and photographer for the TV & Streaming division of Mocean. Over the past year, he has been a creative collaborator on over 60 campaign shoots.
Smiy has directed concept spots for HBO Now (Promax 2015 winner), HBO’s Fahrenheit 451, TNT’s Animal Kingdom and Tales from the Crypt, CNN’S docu-series Soundtracks (Clio 2017 winner), Discovery ID’s Shattered, Food Network’s Chopped, TLC’s Fridays style series lineup and Delta’s 2018 safety video, as well as additional content for Netflix’s Jessica Jones character vignettes, HBO’s Bill Maher launch spot, TLC’s Too Close to Home and Food Network’s Worst Cooks and Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. He has also photographed key art for the Cinemark XD “movieologist” rebrand, USA’s Falling Water, NatGeo Wild’s Exotic Animal ER and Yukon Vet, Morgan Spurlock’s Rats on Discovery, Crackle’s The Oath and CNN’s Soundtracks.
Smiy has worked with talent such as Michael Moore, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Mike Colter, Guy Fieri, Ted Allen, Run-D.M.C., Sonja Sohn, Jim True-Frost, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly.
